While we respect the need to investigate potential identity theft crimes, we believe that the incident related to ProtestWarrior, Jeremy Hammond, and HackThisSite.org is clearly not one of these cases. You will find that the website and group ProtestWarrior.com has not suffered any damages to the website, nor have any of the credit cards in question have been billed.
Although Jeremy Hammond has founded a controversial website, neither him or members of his community has committed any serious crime the likes of which the FBI is investigating for. They advocate using technology and hacking to build a free internet and a free society, not commit credit card fraud or other damages.
We believe that this investigation has been blown out of proportion as no damages has been done. Jeremy is not a criminal and he has no plans to commit any illegal actions in the future. Please reconsider the investigation and charges against Jeremy Hammond.
In the time that i have known Jeremy he has always shown a strong and genuine all around love for people, for any type of person, any race or religion or creed, these are the people he always fought for, the people he always stood up for. Jeremy would never do anything with criminal intent or of malicious intent. He beleived in preserving the rights of humans. In the two years that I have known Jeremy Hammond, it is safe to say that he has been an inspirational figure in my development as a computer enthusiast and as a person. His relentless pursuit for knowledge is portrayed in some amazing projects that he has made. Hackthissite.org being the only one I have been in involved in as both a player and as a staff member. Without this project, 100, 000 of computer enthusiasts would be without the safe and legal environment that Jeremy provided for them to learn. Having spoken to Jeremy on many occasions, it is obvious that he is a genuine person, who may get misunderstood due to his political beliefs. The charges put against Jeremy are a great shock to all that know him, as they all know, that this is not something that he would do, as he is a trustworthy, diligent man. The injustice of the imputation that Jeremy is a criminal, besieged with the affectation of malice is self-evident -- that such a perspicacious, charismatic individual with a strong sense of personal and communal morality would commit an act as repugnant as the accusations that lie before him is unquestionably wrong. The injustice of the modern judicidial system is reprehensible - that 90% of all institutionalized criminals are subject to the melancholy of drug addiction and financial ruin and the stated aim is "punishment" rather than rehabilitation? I have known Jeremy for several years, and throughout that time I have learned so much from him, it's almost impossible to list them all. He is a caring person, taking part in programs such as Food Not Bombs, which makes food for the homeless, while showing that not all activists blow up buildings and start riots. In the years I've known him, I've grown mentally and spiritually under his mentoring. I have met with him in Chicago, and planned trips with him to conventions. Jeremy is not a violent, dangerous person, just misunderstood because of his seemingly 'radical' political beliefs. Put the real criminals behind bars, the murderes, rapists, corrupt politicians who waste taxpayer money, busted CEO's and religious perverts. Jeremy does not have a destructive hacker nature, he is inquisitive, and hacks for knowledge. Let the development of HTS continue, let Jeremy be free, and drop all charges.

I have never known anyone else so far in my life as passionate and dedicated as Jeremy Hammond. This individual has protested for human freedom so many times, in so many ways, it's inspirational. I have only known Jeremy for two or so years, but in that time he has shown me that he is a very accepting person. Xec96 (As I will always know him) was a friend and a colleague to me. Since I join HTS in v.2, I always looked up to him and the community. Now, by the alias Ardeo, I have grown to be known and to repay the community for the debt that I feel I owe them. Jeremy is an innocent, not to mention a good, man and it is a shame to see the FBI pulling off a sensationalist set-up against he who does not share their views.
It seems to me that in the field of technological crimes, people are being charged solely on things they "could have done," as opposed to crimes actually committed. The term "thought crime" comes to mind. 1984 came 20 years late. God bless the USA.

I wanted somewhere to find out about computers and Jeremy's site (HTS) has inspired me to learn to code and learn about how computers work. Why should he suffer because the state dont agree with his views and the views of the majority of people I know. Much money is wasted on this case a Xec was not seeking to harm anything and there are many people out there that have much more potential to commit far worse crimes that checking out a websites security. How many people can say that they've created such a high intellectual community as he has.

This is my opinion of who it happened:
The FBI found a good hacking site. They dont like it. They decide to follow the the 'owner'(I say this as although Xec has the highest claim to the site it has no true owner) and what do they see happening. He is exploring internet security. They decide to get him for that and then persuade the courts to make him shut down "nasty hacking site".
Jeremy would not want to do damage a website anyway. He is above the pettyness of doing it to look good all he does is explore for knowledge.

Xec was a good guy, all the encounters i had with him were nothing but good. I'm not Anti-FBI or whatnot, i'm just for the whole freedom thing, you know, the thing this nation was founded on, some of you may need to pull your heads out your asses to look up in the dictionary.
Regardless of your stance as a hacker, cracker, or just programmer, HTS is like a brother-(and sometimes sister-)hood. And i cant just sit and watch an injustice be done to an innocent person.
Although i was not around when Jeremy first founded hts and i do not know him personally, i have utmost respect for him for creating a site where people are free to learn useful skills in the field of network security and political awareness. The community he created is unparalelled by any other online community i have experienced, and we're all 'rooting';P for him so that he can be freed from this injustice.

In the time I have been on HTS, I have never once seen anything malicious done by Jeremy. I believe that his arrest is solely because he is the starter of HTS. In my time I have participated in hackthissite, all the way back at it's roots at hulla-balloo, I've looked up to Jeremy is probably the most sensible person that I have ever come across. The ideals that he preaches are not those of senseless destruction, this is not our mindset at hackthissite. I have not ever actually met jermy but I am a frequent visitor to HTS and I used to hang out on the IRC Chat all the time and try to get in the conversation when his name came up. He was always this superhuman enigma to me, a figure to be respected. I haven't seen all the info available to me yet but so far from all I have gathered Jermy is innocent.

Jeremy, Xec96, however you may know him, is a great person who would never do anything malicious. He showed me and thousands of other hackers that pointlessly hacking or destroying _anything_ was wrong. He taught me, although it wasn't directly, that we should accept all people, no matter what they believe. Without Jeremy, I would probably be getting in trouble because I wouldn't have a legal and safe place to train and practice website security. This is definately something Jeremy would not do.

I do not have a personal experience with jeremy or have additional comments, but i have been affected by one of jeremy's projects which lead from using my knowledge to destroy others' work to building projects of my own. Such a person could not have committed any of the charges he was accused of.

I am a member of the HackThisSite community, and have known Jeremy for several months. He has always come across to me as calm, level-headed, and intelligent. Furthermore, he has always preached a solid non-destructive ethic, and passive protest, much like the protests of Gandhi. I have known Xec and many of the HTS userbase for years, despite having his own site (www.hackthissite.org) attacked and defaced, he did not react. Not only did he not react, he discouraged agression towards the people who broke into the site. I seriosuly doubt he would do something like that and I can certainly vouch for him. I greatly respect Jeremy, and that is the strongest statement I can make about any person.

I didn't know Xec/Jeremy much, but the time I did know him he was a very caring and outgoing person, always willing to argue politely with a point. He never did something for pointless reason, and even if my and his views on the United States government are different, I always got along with him completely. As A. Briner said, don't put him in jail when there is almost no evidence, and let murderers and other cruel people be let free by some tiny loophole. Jeremy, you will be missed.
It is amazing that even when we establish sites to practice our skills in a controlled area not affecting other sites, the govt. still does not approve. If it was not for his fully legal training ground over at hts.org I would not have half the coding knowlege I have now. The people there are great and have helped my develop my php skills from nothing to what they are now. I've been a member there for about a year and half now and it would be nothing if it was not for Xec96.

In the time I have known jeremy, he has been a great person he has exspanded my computer knowledge greatly, he has changed my life of what I want to be. Before I had no plans, now I want to be a computer programmar to hope to get there soon. Arresting a burglar for being in the house is ok, as long as he is there. If nothing is stolen, and no damage done, why would it make sense then? A lot of hackers just hack to get the challenge, and sadly it went wrong this time for Jeremy. Of course it is stupid to hack other sites, since it is accessing personal info, but i bet that he hasn't done anything, knowing the site he has been making. I believe that just because somebody has the skills to do something malicious doesn't mean that they would. I also believe that somebody who is willing to spend massive amounts of time and effort on a website that shares his knowledge of such matters with other people shows that he is at least a somewhat decent person, one that would not take money from innocents, or cause harm to a site that doesn't harm anybody.

Jeremy is a kind, selfless individual. He has, time and again, made personal sacrificies to educate others. I fully believe that he is completely innocent.
